Parent Reviews

Union Day School embraces the work we do together with our parents, to provide a superior education for our students.  We value the active participation of UDS parents in the Union Day School Parent Teacher Organization, Gryphon Athletics and the many activities taking place each day at UDS.  We also genuinely appreciate the support and endorsements we receive from parents for our efforts.

Following is a representative sampling of comments we've received recently from Union Day School parents.

We chose UDS because of the flexibility and curriculum.

We love the idea of project based learning too.  The IB curriculum and the hope that our boys could continue through high school (and hopefully be more prepared for college) was a huge plus too.

Our son has grown so much as an individual.

This was our first year at UDS. In kindergarten, our son has grown so much as an individual and has learned so much. He has just been thriving at UDS. We’re excited for him to start 1st grade next year and have our daughter start in the 2023-2024 school year in kindergarten! We’re also excited to see the school expanding to a high school!  We’re happy to be a part of the UDS family and can’t wait to see the growth in the future!

My child comes home happy and says she loves her school.

I love the teachers and the support staff

I have been with UDS from the start, I love the curriculum; I love the teachers and the support staff. My kids love this school.

Individualized lesson plans are extremely important to us

The curriculum, class size, and approach to teaching are why we are returning. Individualized lesson plans geared toward the uniqueness of each student are extremely important to us.

The IB program is exactly what our son needs.

We love the laid-back, family, small school feel that UDS has. We especially LOVE the curriculum and think the IB program is exactly what our son needs for HS. We’re happy to have found you!!

We’ve been happy with the teachers

We have had a good experience at UDS. In particular, we've been happy with the teachers, the schedule, the educational philosophy. And, most importantly, our daughters are happy at UDS. Ultimately, that's the most important factor to us.

Children actually learn by doing

Class size is a huge plus especially in middle school. Public schools don't cap their class size in middle school so it can be 40 kids in a class. I like the hands on approach.  It's not just memorizing standards.  Children actually learn by doing it.  I love that the school is small enough that teachers/staff know who my children are.

Classes are interactive and incorporate teamwork

We love that the classrooms allow more one on one learning. We also like that our son's classes are interactive and incorporate Team Work within the class. There are a lot of times where students have to present in front of the class and create Power Points. This will help our son tremendously going forward in his academics and also builds confidence.

Learning opportunities my daughter would not be exposed to in other schools

I really love the IB curriculum and it aligns so much with my daughter’s interests and strengths. She really seems to do well and loves the light homework policy, as that became such a battle in our house before she came to UDS for sixth grade. There are experiences and learning opportunities here that my daughter would not be exposed to in other schools.
